What Bob does
RockyMoon (Bob) is a resource for players of the space strategy game Astro Empires. It tracks, stores and makes available current and historical player and guild data across Astro Empires game servers.
Bob was created in September 2015 to replace the original statistics service, Eddie, incorporating the data collected by Eddie. Bob now connects directly to the game servers regularly to collect up-to-date game data for players and guilds, while retaining years of historical snapshots.
Why “Bob”?
“I wanted to give it a new name without putting too much distance from Eddie. After all, Bob has the same purpose as Eddie. So a name like ‘Eddie II’ was not original enough because Bob is a completely new piece of work.
Eddie and Bob are both common and simple names to remember, so I thought it funny to name it Bob. Hopefully it will catch quickly in the AE community.”
